Who This Choir Is For
The Concert Choir is our premier, high-level performing ensemble for serious high school singers who are ready to make a significant commitment to musical excellence. This is a nationally competitive choir that demands consistent effort, daily practice at home, and full dedication to in class rehearsals and performances.

Course Overview
Join our select high school Concert Choir to develop advanced singing techniques, including ear training, breathing, intonation, music reading, articulation, and performance skills. Our rigorous curriculum includes:
- Music theory and history integrated with 2, 3, 4, and divisi music
- Challenging repertoire in English and other languages
- Opportunities for solo performances, choir competitions, and tours
- A strong emphasis on leadership, musical excellence, and teamwork
First Rehearsal: Friday, August 21, 2026
Audition
This choir requires an audition. Auditions will be held Friday, August 7 and 14th from 12:30-2:30pm. Signup link will be emailed early July 2026 and you can sign up for an audition anytime between these windows.
Songs and vocal tracks will be sent upon enrollment so students can prepare. Students will sing in small or large group settings, plus sing a major scale and “Happy Birthday to You” acapella in a private setting.
Rehearsals & Performances
Rehearsals: One in-person group rehearsal every Friday from 12:00-2:30 PM (Social hour is from 11:30-12:00 PM). Students are expected to practice at home Monday-Thursday with practice tracks. Full commitment to the Friday, in-person rehearsal and performance schedule is required.
Performances:
- Winter Concert: Saturday, December 12, 2026 at 6pm, Evans Auditorium, San Marcos, TX
- Spring Concert: Saturday, May 15, 2027 at 6pm, Evans Auditorium, San Marcos, TX
Special Opportunity: Carnegie Hall Performance
June 2027 — The choir is invited to perform Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
This is an optional trip. Participation is not required — only for those who are interested.

Policies
Practice Policy: Students must practice Monday–Thursday at home and attend all Friday rehearsals. Consistent daily practice is essential. Failure to prepare may result in dismissal to prioritize committed students.
Attendance Policy: This is a high-level, nationally competitive ensemble where consistent attendance is essential for blend, precision, and group success. All rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances are mandatory.
- Rehearsals: Up to 2 absences allowed per semester (excused or unexcused).
- Dress rehearsals and performances: Zero unexcused absences allowed.
- Excused absences for rehearsals must be submitted in writing at the beginning of the semester or as soon as the conflict is known. Acceptable reasons include illness, family emergency, mandatory school conflict, or religious observance.
- Tardies: Three tardies equal one full absence.
- Conflicting activities: Students are encouraged to participate in multiple activities, but choir dress rehearsals and performances take priority. Known conflicts should be listed on the Commitment Form.
- Consequences: Excessive absences may lead to make-up checks, loss of solos or competition opportunities, or being moved to Academy Singers at the director’s discretion.

Refund Policy
Registration fees are non-refundable. Tuition refunds are as follows:
- Before September 1: 100% tuition refunded
- September 15 to October 1: 50% tuition refunded
- After October 1: No refunds
Academic Schedule
The Winter semester runs from August 21, 2026 to December 12, 2026. The spring choir season runs from January 8, 2027 to May 15, 2027.
