Course Overview
Ages 12-18
Meets Fridays 12:30-2:00
Students will develop advanced singing technique including but not limited to ear training, breathing, intonation, reading music, articulation, and rehearsal and performance skills. The course includes the study of music theory and history in the context of the 2, 3, and 4-part music that is chosen for each season. Challenging repertoire in English and other languages suitable for concert performance and choir competition with solo opportunities will be chosen. A high level of leadership and commitment to musical excellence is expected among singers.
Vocal Audition
After enrollment, a member of the SAAVA team will reach out to you to schedule a vocal placement audition.
Rehearsals
One 90 minute, weekly group rehearsal with individual rehearsals done by students at home during the subsequent week. Materials are provided. Rehearsals are Friday from 12:30 to 2:00PM. Rehearsal begins Friday, September 3rd and ends with the final concert in May. Normal holiday schedules are honored.
Performance
One performance at the end of each semester, community performances, choir tours, and/or competition.

Tuition
Tuition is $20 per month ($40 family cap).
Academic Schedule
September 4, 2020 and end May 14, 2021.
Attendance
Obviously, because choir is a team effort, attendance to rehearsals and concerts is mandatory. Attendance details are discussed in greater details in the Choir Handbook to be distributed at the first class.
Choir Fellow
Students with exceptional singing and/or leadership skills are encouraged to apply as a Choir Fellow ($250 per semester stipend). Students can learn more here.
