Who This Choir Is For
The Academy Singers is a welcoming, low-pressure high school choir of over 70 singers perfect for students who want to sing and enjoy the choral experience with a lighter commitment at home.
- For students who want low impact on practice time at home
- For students who mostly want the social aspect of choir
- For students who cannot match pitch yet and/or have very little singing experience
- Students will sing the combined pieces (or 1-2 pieces) with Concert Choir
- Participates in annual Madrigal Dinners in December
- 2026-2027 singers may still travel to NYC to perform the Requiem
- Students with strong potential and good work ethic can move up to Concert Choir at semester (with an audition and upon director approval)
- This choir does not compete or go on the annual Spring tour

Course Overview
Join our vibrant high school choir to develop singing techniques, including ear training, breathing, intonation, music reading, articulation, and performance skills. Our curriculum includes:
- Music theory and history integrated with 2, 3, and 4-part music
- Repertoire in English and other languages
- Opportunities for solo performances
- Mentoring leadership and commitment to musical excellence

First Rehearsal: Friday, August 21, 2026
Rehearsals & Performances
Rehearsals: One 30-minute in-person group rehearsal every Friday and 30 minutes of social hour. Students are expected to practice at home as needed. The academic calendar, including all performances and additional rehearsals, is provided at the start of the year.
Performances:
- Winter Concert: Saturday, December 12, 2026 at 6pm, Evans Auditorium, San Marcos, TX
- Spring Concert: Saturday, May 15, 2027 at 6pm, Evans Auditorium, San Marcos, TX
Special Opportunity: Carnegie Hall Performance
June 2027 — The choir is invited to perform Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
This is an optional trip. Participation is not required — only for those who are interested.

- $375 – ANNUAL (Aug-May) – ONE SINGER
- $725 – ANNUAL (Aug-May) – 2 or more singers

- $250 – ONE SEMESTER – ONE SINGER
- $475 – ONE SEMESTER – 2 or more singers
- $425 – ANNUAL (Aug-May) – ONE SINGER
- $825 – ANNUAL (Aug-May) – 2 or more singers
Policies
Practice Policy: Students must practice Monday-Thursday at home and attend all Friday rehearsals. Failure to prepare may result in dismissal to prioritize committed students.
Attendance Policy: Regular attendance is mandatory for artistic excellence. Students must arrive on time for all rehearsals and events.
Refund Policy
Registration fees are non-refundable. Tuition refunds are as follows:
- Before September 1: 100% tuition refunded
- September 15 to October 1: 50% tuition refunded
- After October 1: No refunds
Academic Schedule
The winter season runs from August 21, 2026 to December 12, 2026. The spring season runs from January 8, 2027 to May 15, 2027.
