Course Overview

Join our vibrant choir to develop advanced singing techniques, including ear training, breathing, intonation, music reading, articulation, and performance skills. Our curriculum includes:

• Music theory and history integrated with 2, 3, and 4-part music
• Challenging repertoire in English and other languages
• Opportunities for solo performances and choir competitions
• A focus on leadership and commitment to musical excellence

Mandatory Orientation: Friday, August 15, 2025

First Rehearsal: Friday, August 22, 2025

Registration

Enrollment for the 2025-2026 academic year opens May 15, 2025. A $25 non-refundable registration fee is due at enrollment to cover sheet music and other materials.

Vocal Placement: No audition required. Post-enrollment, a SAAVA team member will schedule a vocal placement session.

Rehearsals & Performances

Rehearsals: One 120-minute in-person group rehearsal every Friday. Students are expected to practice daily at home. The academic calendar, including all performances and additional rehearsals, is provided at the start of the year.

Performances:

• Winter Concert: Friday, December 12, 2025, 8:00 PM, Bates Recital Hall
• Spring Concert: Friday, May 15, 2026, 8:00 PM, Bates Recital Hall

Policies

Practice Policy: Students must practice Monday-Thursday and attend all Friday rehearsals. Failure to prepare may result in dismissal to prioritize committed students.

Attendance Policy: Regular attendance is mandatory for artistic excellence. Students must arrive on time for all rehearsals and events.

Make-up Rehearsals: Missed Friday rehearsals require attendance at a make-up session the following Friday at 2:30 PM or by arrangement with the director.

Excessive Absences: After three absences, a meeting with the singer and parent(s) will be requested. Two consecutive absences or three total absences may trigger a vocal check, with potential dismissal at the director’s discretion.

Tuition & Fees

Registration Fee: $75 non-refundable (due at enrollment)

Tuition – One Semester:

• $200 per singer
• $400 for 2 or more singers

Tuition – Full Year (August to May):

• $350 per singer
• $700 for 2 or more singers

Uniforms: Choir uniforms, costing $50-$100, are required for concerts and contests.

Refund Policy

Registration fees are non-refundable. Tuition refunds are as follows:

• Before September 15, 2025: 100% tuition refunded
• September 15 to October 1, 2025: 50% tuition refunded
• After October 1, 2025: No refunds

Academic Schedule

The choir season runs from August 15, 2025, to May 18, 2026.
