Hark, noble gentlefolk and merry souls of the realm! In this merry season of yuletide cheer, the valiant Academy Singers of SAAVA do summon thee to their Second Annual Madrigal Dinner—a revelrous banquet wherein the King’s and Queen’s most illustrious court doth convene for an eve of unbridled laughter, sprightly dances, harmonious strains of Renaissance minstrelsy, and viands most delectable, fit for the halls of olde Albion itself!
On the fifth eve of December (being a Friday) and the sixth (a Saturday anon), repair ye forthwith to the hallowed halls of Point Community Church, nigh unto 11300 Old San Antonio Road in the fair village of Manchaca, Texas, realm code 78652. The portcullis shall unbar at the seventh hour past noontide (7:00pm), and the grand revels commence at the half-hour thitherto (7:30pm). Clad thyself, if thou wilt, in the garb of bygone days—velvets and farthingales, doublets and ruffs—to join the fray in truest Tudor splendor; yet fear not, for all are welcome in humble array, as the spirit of mirth demands no such frippery.
Lo, what joys await thy palate and thine ear? The feast, cunningly wrought by the master hand of Lord Niebuhr—renowned chef and lord of the hearth—shall unfold in four sumptuous courses, each a testament to the bounty of the land:
- The Wassail Toast and Layes: Arise, all ye, and pledge thy troth in spiced wassail, whilst the Academy Singers’ voices entwine in songs of olde, lifting hearts like larks at dawn.
- Winter Salad, a Verdant Marvel: Crisp kale and ruby cabbage, bedecked with tart cranberries, nut-brown walnuts, and creamy feta, all tossed in a zesty lemon vinaigrette that doth sparkle like frost-kissed morn.
- Beef Bourguignon, the Heart’s True Nourishment: Tender beef in a rich, ruby wine embrace, with carrots, mushrooms, and onions (sans those pearly rogues of yore), served gluten-free save for the crusty baguette—heed this, ye of delicate constitutions!
- Flaming Pudding with Cinnamon-Nutmeg Glaze: A blazing orb of bliss, aflame with spice and sweetness, to crown the board in triumphant glory.
Betwixt these delights, the court shall whirl in dances and merrymakings, where japes fly swift as arrows and feet fleet as faeries. Behold the Specialty Act: The King’s Befuddled Betrothal, a comedy tournament of hapless vows and tangled troths, wherein Jester and Harold shall tilt lances of laughter, leaving all in stitches of delight. The revels close with the Jester’s final jest, a chorus of song, and a fond adieu, as the court disperses into the starry night.
All proceeds from this noble affair shall fund the Academy Singers’ quest to the 2026 National Competition, that their voices may echo across the kingdom.
